Exterior house painting uncovers water damage, a cool post repair
Fall is a great time to paint the exterior of your home.
Recently John Young Handyman Services was paintign a home in Edmond Oklahom just outdie Oklahoma City. I discovered a porch post that was rotted near the bottom from too many waterings from a stray sprinkler head.
The homeowner hadn't budgeted for replacing a porch post. Actually we'd have to replace both front post to make them match.
I have a little porch post repair trick up my sleeve.
This post still had quite a bit of good wood at the backside. We wrapped both the posts on the porch with some trim lumber. This repair won't work to repair structural damage but will work great for cosmetic repairs.
